Having a good cocktail is always relaxing, but nothing transports you to a care free state of mind quite like the Mai Tai. For me it instantly brings back memories of Hawaii, beautiful sunsets, and sand between my toes. Recently I was hanging out with Matt "Rumdood" Robold and Jason Schiffer and we were experimenting with different garnishes to capture the essence of the Tiki cocktail. Traditionally the Mai Tai is garnished with half a lime and mint as the island and palm tree, but Matt literally turned that idea on its head when he hollowed out the lime and poured 151 inside. I was a bit skeptical at first, but when that match lit up the lime it was an awesome sight. A perfect example of how a cocktail can be taken to the next level with a beautiful presentation to accompany the beautiful craft.
